Bhagavad Gita 17.2
श्रीभगवानुवाच त्रिविधा भवति श्रद्धा देहिनां सा स्वभावजा। सात्त्विकी राजसी चैव तामसी चेति तां शृणु॥
The Supreme Lord said: The inherent faith of embodied beings is threefold, born of their individual nature—good (Sattviki), passionate (Rajasi), and ignorant (Tamasi). Hear about this now from Me.
Krishna explains that faith is not uniform; it takes on the character of an individual's predominant Guna or inner disposition (Svabhava).
